Keeping the Children's Dreams Alive
Brief History
Experiencing first-hand the growing financial challenges faced by the Department of Pediatrics in caring for pediatric patients at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), a dedicated group of senior consultants and alumni from the Department of Pediatrics and the University of the Philippines College of Medicine (UPCM) came together in 1992 to establish the Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation, Inc. Their experiences of seeing patients succumb to severe illnesses, exacerbated by the lack of resources for essential medicines and diagnostic procedures, deeply motivated them to take action. Recognizing PGH as one of the few government hospitals capable of managing complex cases, the founders of CHILD Foundation aimed to collaborate closely with the Department of Pediatrics to provide the much-needed support for these vulnerable children.
Our vision
The CHILD Foundation, Inc. will distinguish itself as the prime supporter of the Department of Pediatrics, UPCM-PGH to be more responsive to the health needs and aspirations of the Filipino Children to be recognized for the passion of its members in supporting its service-oriented endeavors.
Our mission
The CHILD Foundation, Inc.’s mission is to actively support the service-oriented endeavors of the Department of Pediatrics through financial assistance, for the benefit of their patients and for the professional advancement of its members.
Our goal
The goal is to be able to augment the resources needed to ensure that patients of the Department of Pediatrics will have the medicines, supplies, and equipment that are needed to attain good health, characterized by efficiency in governance.
Our Team
The CHILD Foundation, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization, composed of faculty and/or graduates of the UPCM and PGH Department of Pediatrics, bonded together with the desire to provide optimal health care for the less privileged children of the Society.
