The Department of Pediatrics participates in the Department of Health’s campaign on deworming every January. On January 12, 2010, a deworming lecture entitled “Ingat Bata, Iwas Bulate” was conducted at the Pediatrics Audiovisual Room. The very infor-mative and well received lecture was deli-vered by Dr. Edilberto Garcia, a consultant of the department. It was attended by the relatives and patients of Wards 9 and 11, as well as those from Orthopedics (Ward 8), Otorhinolaryngology (Ward 10) and Ophthalmology (SOJR). The lecture highlighted the importance of routine deworming and measures essential for preventing intestinal parasitism such as proper personal hygiene and proper food preparation. Parents were also instructed on the warning signs of intestinal parasitism. The parents actively participated at interactive session that followed the lecture. Free anti-parasitic medicines were distributed to the families for their children. The activity was jointly sponsored of the Department of Pediatrics and CHILD Foundation, Inc.
